WHAT HAPPENED?
Manchester United have been struggling for form under Ten Hag again this season, with just four wins from 14 games in all competitions. It has been suggested that part-owners INEOS could relieve Ten Hag of his managerial duties as United continue to fall down towards the Premier League relegation places, with a 2-1 defeat at West Ham last time out leaving them in 14th. The Red Devils have been linked with a number of managers in recent weeks, including Roberto Amorim and Thomas Frank, with former Barcelona manager Xavi also on the shortlist of potential replacements for Ten Hag. On an Instagram story posted by Nuria Cunillera, Xavi’s wife, the Barcelona legend’s son was spotted wearing a 2023-24 Manchester United home jersey, prompting fans to speculate he is closing in on a switch to Old Trafford.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
While reports keep suggesting that INEOS and Manchester United’s top brass are looking at potential candidates to replace Ten Hag, the Dutchman has maintained that he still has the support of the senior management team going forward. The former Ajax boss currently has a contract at Old Trafford until the summer of 2026. Xavi, meanwhile, is looking to return to the game after being sacked by Barcelona at the end of last season.
WHAT NEXT FOR MAN UTD?
Ten Hag’s side will be back in action when they take on Leicester City in a round of 16 Carabao Cup clash on Wednesday, October 30, and a loss in that tie could potentially spell the end for the Dutchman. United will switch their focus back to the Premier League four days later, with a huge clash against Chelsea on the cards.
