Manchester United have been told that Thomas Tuchel would completely transform the current team amid growing pressure on Erik ten Hag.
United held talks with ex-Chelsea and Bayern Munich boss Tuchel over the summer as they considered sacking Ten Hag after a dismal season in which the Red Devils finished eighth in the Premier League, though they managed to win the FA Cup.
Tuchel, however, turned them down and the Old Trafford club opted to hand Ten Hag a contract extension. The coach once again finds himself under pressure, though, amid his team’s rough start to the season, and ex-Arsenal and Chelsea defender William Gallas has suggested the club leaders have another go at convincing Tuchel to come in.
WHAT GALLAS SAID
“Thomas Tuchel could be the solution to Manchester United’s problems. If he came into the club and was given time, given two years to create his team, the club would be in a completely different position to the one it is in now,” Gallas said to Gambling Zone. “At Chelsea Tuchel was very organised, the players respected him and he won the Champions League as well as a couple of other trophies, you can see why he was a success and maybe he wasn’t given enough time to Chelsea to turn things around.”
WHAT NEXT FOR MAN UTD?
After losing to Brighton and then Liverpool, United have just three points from their opening three Premier League games of the 2024-25 season. Ten Hag will hope to relieve some of the pressure he faces by guiding them to a win against Southampton, who have zero points, on September 14.
