WHAT HAPPENED?

After taking the harsh decision of removing legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson as the club’s global ambassador, Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his INEOS group have decided to stop the Christmas bash which is usually celebrated by the club’s staff in the build-up to December 25, according to The Athletic.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

    The strict measures are being taken as part of INEOS’ cost-cutting policy which Ratcliffe took after buying a minority stake at the club earlier this year. Since the British billionaire’s arrival at Old Trafford, several senior staff members have already had club credit cards taken from them, and staff were made to contribute to the travel to the FA Cup final in May.

    While the staff’s Christmas party has been stopped, players can still enjoy the festivities provided manager Erik ten Hag allows them.
