Marc Casadó has become one of the big surprises of the current season for Barcelona, the young academy graduate has managed to secure a place in the centre of the field, playing the role of starting pivot under the direction of Hansi Flick. At just 21 years old, he has proven to be a key player, outperforming players such as Frenkie de Jong, who initially seemed destined to occupy that position.

After two seasons at Barça B, Casadó had the opportunity to make his debut with the first team in 2022. Trained in the Barcelona youth ranks, he joined the reserve team and made his Champions League debut against Viktoria Plzen with Xavi as coach.

Biography and career of Marc Casadó

Marc Casadó Torras, born on 14 September 2003 in San Pedro de Vilamajor, Spain, is a promising midfielder for FC Barcelona in the Primera División. Trained in youth clubs such as CF Vilamajor, PB Sant Celoni, and CF Damm, he joined Barcelona’s youth system in 2016, at the age of 13.

At the Juvenil A level, Casadó stood out as captain, leading the team to the league and the Champions Cup in 2020-21. He was called up to the Barcelona Atlètic bench four times in 2021, and in 2022 he was officially promoted to the team, extending his contract until 2024.

He made his debut for Barça Atlètic on 27 August 2022 in a 3-2 win over CD Castellón. His first appearance for the first team came in the Champions League on 1 November 2022 in a 4-2 win against Viktoria Pilsen.

With the arrival of Hansi Flick in the 2024-25 season, Casadó has established himself in the team. He participated in the pre-season tour in the USA and started in matches against Manchester City, Real Madrid and AC Milan, accumulating significant minutes.

He was also a starter in the Joan Gamper Trophy, being the player with the most minutes in the preseason. In the first match of La Liga 2024-25, he played the full 90 minutes and contributed to Barcelona’s 1-2 victory over Valencia CF.

How much does Casadó earn at Barcelona?

Marc Casadó extended his contract with Barcelona last season until 2028, securing his future at the club. Although he signed this extension before knowing that he would be under Hansi Flick, the exact amount of his salary was not revealed.

Casadó is currently one of the lowest-paid players in the team, which is not unusual given his youth and his training at the club. However, his salary is likely to be adjusted soon, given his growing importance in the team.
