Mario Balotelli heading back to Serie A?! Ex-Liverpool & Man City striker in talks with two clubs after missing out on summer transfer to Corinthians

Mario Balotelli may be set to return to Serie A and resume his career in Italy after seeing a transfer to Brazil fall through.

WHAT HAPPENED?

The Italian striker has been without a club since leaving Turkish side Adana Demirspor in July. He has reportedly received many offers from around the world, from including Australia, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Japan. The 34-year-old reached an agreement to join Brazilian side Corinthians, but the move collapsed in July.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

    An Indian Super League team were also linked with the ex-Manchester City striker but they ended up turning down the chance to land him, leaving the notorious forward in limbo. However, a road back to his homeland has opened up for Balotelli, as Repubblica reports Genoa head coach Alberto Gilardino has called him to discuss a possible deal.

      Genoa are not the only team linked with the former Inter and AC Milan player. According to La Stampa, Torino are also considering signing the 36-time Italy international after they lost forward Duvan Zapata to injury.

      WHAT NEXT FOR BALOTELLI?

      The striker will consider his options as talks over a possible free transfer continue, but it looks like he is set for a return to the Italian top flight in the near future.
