Biography of Mirtha Legrand

Rosa María Juana Martínez Suárez was born on February 23, 1927 in Villa Cañás, Santa Fe, Argentina. Daughter of Spanish immigrants, her father, José Martínez, was a merchant from Almería, and her mother, Rosa Suárez, was a teacher from Santander . Mirtha, along with her twin sister Silvia Legrand, were known from a young age by nicknames that would mark their artistic life.

The sisters studied at the Fiscal School No. 178 in Santa Fe, where Mirtha stood out for her coquetry. Known as “Chiquita”, she always sought to look good, while her sister was nicknamed “Goldi” . Together, they formed a childhood full of creativity and artistic exploration, accompanied by their nannies.

In 1934, the family moved to Rosario, where Mirtha and Silvia continued their education and took acting and music classes. After their father’s death in 1937, the family moved to Buenos Aires, where the twins honed their artistic talents in various institutions.

Children, husband, family, what is known?

At the age of 18, Mirtha Legrand began dating a military man from Cordoba, but the relationship did not last more than a year due to the distance. In 1945, during the filming of the movie Cinco besos , she met the French film director Daniel Tinayre, whom she married on May 18, 1946.

This event had a great media impact, leading Radiolandia magazine to acquire the exclusive rights to cover all the details of the wedding. In 1967, after the death of her mother Rosa Suárez, Mirtha temporarily left the show.

In Gente magazine , she revealed her marital problems, pointing out infidelities on Tinayre’s part and her interest in another man, although she always described him as “the man of her life.”

Mirtha faced difficult times after the death of her son Daniel Andrés in 1999 and her husband, which led her to consider leaving her career.

Although she has generally enjoyed good health, in 2005 she underwent surgery for gallstones and later cataract surgery.

In her family, she lost her brother José in 2019 and her twin sister Silvia in 2020, but she remains close to her daughter Marcela Tinayre, a television presenter, and her three grandchildren, Ignacio, Juana and Rocco , as well as her great-grandchildren.

Why is this trending?
