The week will begin with more protests as the National Electric Energy Company Workers Union (STENEE) prepares to begin protests against the lack of salary payments and adjustments that have left hundreds of employees in a precarious situation.

This was announced on Sunday by Ángel Hernández, the union’s treasurer, who reported that the authorities have been given until November 4 to make the payments.

Hernandez explained that around 400 employees have not received their salaries for four months, while another 60 colleagues have not received their salaries for the last two months. Many workers, he said, have reached a critical point of domestic calamity, without resources even to transport themselves to their workplaces.

The union has called on ENEE workers to remain alert to a call for protests if the authorities do not comply with the payments on Monday. If the situation is not resolved, the actions will begin on Tuesday, November 5, with information meetings and protests nationwide.

This announcement comes in a context of growing unrest in the public sector, which last week witnessed protests by employees of the School Hospital over similar payment problems.
