The tragic death of Mexican regional music singer Tito Torbellino sparked an intense debate among his fans, who claim that the artist predicted his own end in the lyrics of one of his songs.
The chilling coincidence has made his song “Al que se animó” the focus of attention since he was gunned down on May 29, 2014 while eating at a restaurant in Sonora.
That day, Eduardo Tomás Tovar Rascon, better known as Tito Torbellino, was surprised by a group of armed men who, without saying a word, opened fire directly at him.
The attack, which occurred in broad daylight, left the 33-year-old singer dead, marking the end of a career that had established him in the narcocorrido genre.
A disturbing omen
A year before his murder, the singer released “It’s not you, now it’s me” an album in which he included the corrido “Al que se animamo”.
In this song, Tito Torbellino talks about being shot to death and leaves instructions for his death to be avenged, lyrics that many now consider a dark omen of what would happen to him.
“If they shoot me, I want to die bravely, even if my body is torn to pieces…” he recites the verse that now seems to describe his fate with tragic accuracy.
This song not only reflects the dangers the artist faced, but also an emotional message for his family.
“I leave you some beloved children, I carry them with me in my heart… I ask my mother not to keep anything in her heart…” sings the artist, in what seems like an early farewell.
The song also contains a call for revenge, expressing a desire for justice in the line “Let the fire resound in the horn, until the one who killed me falls.”
A musical legacy marked by danger
With his tragic death, Tito left a void in the music industry and endless questions among his fans, who have immersed themselves in his music in search of clues and signs of the dangers he faced.
For many, “Al que se animó” is not just another song in the artist’s repertoire, but a testimony of a man who seemed to know the outcome that awaited him.
During his lifetime, Tito Torbellino was known for addressing themes of risk and violence in his songs, exploring life in the world of drug trafficking.
