Major Symbols :
National Coat of Arms of Honduras:
The coat of arms of Honduras, created on October 3, 1825, is an emblem of the country’s natural wealth and history. It includes an equilateral triangle with a volcano between two castles, a rainbow and a rising sun. These elements symbolize hope, strength and freedom.
The National Anthem:
The National Anthem of Honduras, composed by Augusto C. Coello and set to music by Carlos Hartling, was adopted in 1915. This anthem narrates the history of the country from pre-Columbian times to independence in 1821. It is a song of pride and patriotism that resonates in the heart of every Honduran.
The National Flag:
The National Flag of Honduras, created in 1866, is a symbol that represents freedom and sovereignty. It is composed of three horizontal stripes: two blue ones that represent the two oceans that bathe the Honduran coasts and a white stripe that symbolizes peace. In addition, in the center there are five blue stars that represent the five Central American countries.

The National Flower:
The National Flower of Honduras is the orchid Rhyncholaelia digbyana, decreed on November 26, 1969. It is a native flower of Honduras, with characteristics of beauty, vigor and distinction, which represents the biodiversity of the country.
It should be noted that previously, the National Flower of Honduras was the rose; however, as it was not native to Honduras, the decree was repealed on January 12, 1946.
The National Bird
The macaw, or scarlet macaw, has been the national bird of Honduras since June 28, 1993. Distinguished by its red, blue and yellow plumage, it is a symbol of the country’s cultural heritage and fauna.
The National Tree
The pine, specifically Pinus oocarpa, was declared the National Tree in 1926. This tree is abundant in Honduran forests and represents the strength, greatness and resilience of the Hondurans.
The National Mammal:
The white-tailed deer, or Odocoileus virginianus, has been the National Mammal of Honduras since 1993, representing the country’s fauna and standing out for its multiple characteristics of strength and bravery.
Its habitat includes plains and mountains rich in vegetation, and it is common to find it in extensive pine forests.
This majestic mammal tends to prefer solitude in its habitat and is mainly active at night. It reaches an average weight of 40 kg, with a height of 73 cm and a total length of 140 cm, including the tail.
