New rule at airport: maximum 3 minutes for farewell hugs

FAST DOWNLOAD

Dunedin Airport in New Zealand has introduced a 3-minute time limit for farewell hugs at the drop-off area. Those wishing to give longer goodbye hugs are asked to do so in the parking lot.

The rule is meant to reduce traffic congestion and improve safety.

Airport CEO Dan De Bono said the policy is meant to balance emotion with practical considerations, as vehicles left standing for long periods often cause delays.

The measure has elicited mixed reactions online: some call it excessive, while others appreciate the humour and practicality. No strict enforcement is planned, but staff can ask people to move on if necessary.
