Quizzed on whether Mullin will continue to get goals in League One, former Wrexham striker Lee Trundle – speaking in association with online-casinos.com – told GOAL: “One hundred per cent. I know myself going from League Two to League One, I don’t think the difference is massive. I think Paul Mullin is a striker that could easily go and score goals in the Championship. He scores every different type of goal – it’s not as though he will just score tap-ins, it’s outside the box, headers, he will be sliding in at the front post.
“They spoke about how he has made himself eligible for Wales and for me I think he’d be brilliant, and he’s ready to go in there now. A lot of people question it and say ‘he’s only done it in the National League and League Two’. But for me, if you’re a goalscorer and get chances, then you are going to score goals. When Mulls comes back, I’m sure he will be up there and finish top goalscorer at Wrexham and be up towards the top of the charts in the league as well.”

Pressed further on whether Bellamy should be considering Mullin for his next squad in October, Trundle added: “One hundred per cent I think he should. The thing about international football for me is, there’s no risk – you’re not paying money for someone and it goes wrong. There’s a chance to give Mulls a call-up, he can train with those lads and in training you’ll be able to see what he’s like. You’ll be able to see if he can cut it at that level.
“For me it’s a no-brainer, especially with Bellamy coming in. If I was a new manager coming in, I would want to try as many new options as I could. It’s a free hit. You can bring these players in and, who knows, you could unearth a gem. I think he would score goals at that level.”

Mullin’s return to league action has seen him step off the bench in three fixtures. He was included from the start in a Football League Trophy clash with Salford City, and opened his goal account for the season in spectacular style – before pulling on a ‘Welshpool’ mask in celebration following his recent cameo appearance in Reynolds’ blockbuster ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ movie.
