      THE BIGGER PICTURE

Although the Red Dragons took an early lead through Jack Marriott, who scored just three minutes into the match, the hosts came roaring back into the match with club-record signing Jay Stansfield netting twice to put his side ahead. Just before the hour mark, Japan international Tomoki Iwata then sealed the game with a third goal that left Phil Parkinson’s side crestfallen.

      • WHAT JAMES MCCLEAN SAID

The defeat in a prestige fixture was a difficult pill to swallow and emotions were running high after the final whistle. Amidst the frustrations and chaos following the loss, George Dobson, who had been delayed due to a routine post-match drug test, was accidentally left behind in the West Midlands as the team bus left for North Wales.

When asked about the incident, during an interview at The Fozcast Live podcast, James McClean revealed: “It’s true! He was doing the drug test after the game. Our heads were scrambled and we just kind of left him.”
