Who was Paul Di’Anno?

Born Paul Andrews on May 17, 1958, Paul Di’Anno left an indelible mark on the world of heavy metal. Although his time with Iron Maiden was relatively short, between 1978 and 1981, he was responsible for providing vocals for the band’s first albums: Iron Maiden and Killers . These albums helped consolidate the genre that had previously been driven by bands like Black Sabbath.

Despite his success, Di’Anno’s personal life was marked by health problems and addictions. The pressure of life on the road, combined with his increasing addiction to alcohol and drugs, contributed to his health rapidly deteriorating. During a tour in Japan, the situation reached a critical point, and he could barely complete concerts, which eventually led to his departure from the band.
