Police Detained Husband As Woman In ‘Mummy Calm Down’ Viral Video Commits Suicide In Benin (Watch Video)
Toluige Olokobi Babalola, the woman seen in the well-known video “Mummy Calm Down,” took her own life.
Remember that after the little child offended his mother and was seen on camera pleading for forgiveness, the mother and her son gained widespread attention on the internet.
The young child was heard sobbing and pleading with his mother to “calm down and rest a little” before she took any further action against him in the video.
The video, Mummy Calm Down, went viral, turning the 4-year-old child into a social media sensation.
The governor of Lagos, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, was among those who watched the video.
Oreofeoluwa was featured in several interviews with media houses. He also said he wants to be a police officer to help fight corruption in Nigeria
But on Tuesday, November 6, 2023, an X user disclosed that Toluige committed suicide in Benin, Edo State due to unknown reasons.
The X user, who said he was at the scene of the incident on Monday afternoon, added that Toluige had refused to share her problems with anyone before taking her own life.
He wrote, “The woman in the viral Mummy Calm Down video has just committed suicide here in Benin.
“She refused to speak to anyone about her problems. She left three kids for her husband including the popular Mummy Calm Down boy.”
Confirming Toluige’s death in a chat with BBC Pidgin, the spokesperson of the Edo state police command, Chidi Nwabuzor said her husband has been arrested and detained for questioning.
Nwabuzor said the husband reported the matter to the police.
The police spokesperson quoted the husband to have said that “he came home from the market when he saw his wife hanging with rope on her neck”.
Nwabuzor said she was rushed to the hospital and then to the mortuary after she was confirmed dead.
