The opening of the Texas newscast KCEN News last Wednesday, October 30, 2024, was tinged with sadness, when anchor Lindsay Liepman tearfully informed viewers of the unexpected death of her colleague and friend Kris Radcliffe.
Radcliffe, who was a key part of the network for 22 years, died unexpectedly that same day.
“Kris sat in the chair next to me and he was the best, he was just the best. Funny and smart, I looked forward to working with him every night and I think everyone at home realized that,” Liepman said, remembering his inseparable companion.
She was so emotional that, between sobs, she admitted that she could not continue broadcasting the news, asking for understanding from the audience.
“If I had known that yesterday was going to be our last newscast together, I would have laughed a little harder. I would have thanked him for everything he taught me and gave to all of you, the viewers, but that’s not how life works,” Liepman shared, visibly moved.
Due to the unexpected passing, a sister station took over the broadcast that night in support of the news team, allowing his colleagues to mourn the loss of their dear friend in privacy.
