Putin’s expensive and extremely luxurious Black Sea residence has been razed to the ground. And it’s not because of a Ukrainian attack. The Russian president himself ordered the demolition of his summer residence earlier this year.
Putin is terrified of Ukrainian drone attacks, according to independent Russian media outlet Proekt.
The luxurious residence, known as Bocharov Ruchey, is located in Sochi’s Tsentralny district and was built in 1955. Putin has hosted many world leaders there and celebrates the birthday of his current girlfriend, former gymnast Alina Kabayeva, every year. He also took refuge there during the coronavirus pandemic.
Since 2023, the Kremlin leader has only spent eight days there. Putin has been deliberately avoiding the place: “He has been fearing for his life since the Ukrainian drone attacks on the resort in the fall of 2023,” Proekt reports. A source close to the president reportedly confirmed this information.
There is reportedly a new construction project on site, details of which are not yet known.
