South Korea may send personnel to Ukraine to gather intelligence and monitor North Korean troops deployed there.

According to South Korean intelligence, no fewer than 1,500 North Korean soldiers have already been sent to Russia, where they are currently undergoing training before being deployed to fight in Ukraine.

Meanwhile, Pyongyang has denied sending troops to Russia, while Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said this week that such collaboration would have no consequences for third countries.

According to Yonhap News Agency, citing an anonymous source, “there is a possibility that personnel will be sent to Ukraine to monitor the tactics and combat capabilities of North Korean special forces dispatched in support of Russia.”

Seoul is also considering providing defensive military equipment as well as humanitarian aid, according to the same anonymous source.

South Korea has condemned its northern neighbor’s actions and warned of possible retaliation.
