Putin had his private palace destroyed for fear of an attack

Russian President Vladimir Putin has demolished his Sochi residence amid concerns over frequent drone attacks.

According to the publication “Project” reports this with reference to the analysis of satellite imagery.

The journalists noted that Mr Putin had not visited his Sochi residence in the past seven months, something that had not happened “for at least ten years”.

“After analyzing satellite images, we concluded that demolition began in February 2024 and that by March the building had been razed,” the authors of the investigation said.

Putin fears being targeted; last year, Russian media reported that Putin was increasingly using an armoured train for his travels. One reason for this decision is that a train is harder to track in real time than an airplane.
