Near the Ukrainian city of Kostyantynivka, an unprecedented event occurred in the sky. White traces of fighter jets were seen over the city, but it immediately became clear that there was something strange about these traces.
Indeed, the lower track split into two and a new object accelerated rapidly towards the other vapor track until they crossed and a bright orange flash lit up the sky. What was happening over Kostyantynivka?
Ukrainians discovered from the falling debris that they had just witnessed the destruction of Russia’s latest weapon: the S-70 stealth combat drone.
And this is definitely not an ordinary drone. This heavy unmanned vehicle, called Okhotnik (Prowler), is the size of a fighter jet, but without a cockpit. It is very difficult to track, and its designers claim that it simply did not exist on our planet before.
The Russian S-70 weighs over 20 tons and is said to have a range of 6,000 km. It is shaped like an arrow and looks a lot like an American machine, another stealth combat drone made ten years ago.
This Okhotnik should be able to carry bombs and missiles to attack ground and air targets and conduct reconnaissance operations. This aircraft was designed to work harmoniously with the Russian fifth-generation Su-57 fighter jets. But over Kostyantynivka, things clearly went wrong.
Until last weekend, there was no evidence that the S-70 had been used in Russia’s two-and-a-half-year war in Ukraine. But with the discovery of the debris, that has changed.
