The Honduran population is advised to stay informed and take precautions, especially in the areas most affected by the rains.
In its weather forecast for Wednesday, the National Center for Atmospheric, Oceanographic and Seismic Studies (Cenaos) announced light to moderate rain and showers in most of Honduras.
“We are under the influence of the intertropical convergence zone that is over the national territory and is generating rain, light to moderate showers, accompanied by electrical activity in most of the national territory,” explained Mario Centeno, meteorologist at Cenaos.
“The highest accumulated precipitation is expected in the central and eastern regions, as well as in the western and southern parts of the country,” he added.
It is worth mentioning that on Monday Morazanic Week began in Honduras , a holiday that usually generates mass mobilization of the population to tourist centers and places of origin.
Forecast by department
In western Honduras, Lempira will record a maximum temperature of 29°C and a minimum of 19°C; Ocotepeque, a maximum of 27°C and a minimum of 18°C; Santa Bárbara, a maximum of 31°C and a minimum of 22°C; and Intibucá, a maximum of 23°C and a minimum of 15°C.
In the eastern region, Olancho will have a maximum temperature of 33°C and a minimum of 22°C; Gracias a Dios, a maximum of 32°C and a minimum of 25°C; and El Paraíso, a maximum of 26°C and a minimum of 18°C.
At the other extreme, in the north, Yoro will have a maximum temperature of 29°C and a minimum of 20°C; the Bay Islands will have a maximum of 32°C and a minimum of 26°C.
In central Honduras, Francisco Morazán will have a maximum temperature of 28°C and a minimum of 18°C; and La Paz, a maximum of 30°C and a minimum of 20°C.
Surf
As for waves, according to the forecast, in the Caribbean the waves will be between 1 and 3 feet, with a maximum of 4 feet, while in the Gulf of Fonseca waves of 2 to 4 feet are expected.

Green alert
On Monday, the Permanent Contingency Commission (Copeco) declared a 48-hour green alert in 11 departments due to rains caused by a low-pressure system.
While in the Central District a yellow alert was issued for 72 hours .
