Russian forces have been unable to launch a full offensive on Zaporizhzhia, now focusing instead on targeted operations, according to Andrii Kovalenko, head of Ukraine’s Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council.
According to Kovalenko, Russian troops are not positioned to advance directly on the city of Zaporizhzhia; instead, the Russian military is preparing for offensives in areas near the city.
The Russian army has chosen Kurakhove as its next target—a town in the direction of Zaporizhzhia, which is home to Europe’s largest nuclear power plant.
Earlier this week, it was reported that Russia was amassing troops around Zaporizhzhia to launch a large-scale attack. Moscow is also mobilizing tens of thousands of soldiers, including North Koreans, to reinforce the Kursk region, where some areas remain under Ukrainian control.
