The Russian Foreign Ministry has been the target of a large-scale distributed denial of service attack. So reports news agency TASS Wednesday after Maria Zakharova, spokeswoman for the ministry, said she had to postpone her weekly news briefing because of this incident.
This is remarkable since Russian hackers have been bombarding foreign authorities with such DDoS attacks themselves for months, causing them to take down websites, tools and online platforms for a while. Among others, the websites of the governments of Belgium and Slovenia have already come under heavy fire.
