Salvadoran migrant stabs ex-partner in front of their son in the US

Brenda Guadalupe Alfaro Alcántara , a 29-year-old Salvadoran, died tragically last Saturday in Hempstead, Long Island, United States , after being stabbed 34 times allegedly by her ex-partner, José Funes Zabala.
The attack took place in a basement apartment on Botsford Street , where police were called to 911.
Brenda’s son witnessed the brutal murder and stood by his mother’s body as Zabala fled. According to Nassau County Police Department Detective Stephen Fitzpatrick , the boy stayed by his mother’s side as her attacker fled, with no regard for the boy.

Zabala, 43, also originally from El Salvador, was arrested Monday and faces charges of murder and endangering the welfare of a minor.
Authorities revealed that Brenda had a restraining order against her due to previous threats, but it had expired just one day before the crime.
Authorities have reminded that anyone with a restraining order in force can request an extension if they continue to feel at risk
