Christian Pulisic has joked about winding Weston McKennie up on the flight that they shared back to the United States for international duty.
The pair, who are now based in Italy with AC Milan and Juventus respectively, have been included in Gregg Berhalter’s squad for the CONCACAF Nations League finals. After completing domestic commitments in Serie A, they are heading home.
Pulisic and McKennie have struck up quite the bond down the years, as leading lights for their country that are carrying the American flag in Europe, but their friendship may have been tested during a long journey to the USMNT training camp.
That is because Pulisic has revealed that he was prepared to annoy his team-mate during a flight that saw him positioned in front of McKennie. The Milan star, who has posted a personal-best 12 goals this season, has joked on Instagram that was going to send his “seat all the way back!” McKennie tried to get his own back by dishing out a wet finger to Pulisic’s ear!
The United States are set to face Jamaica in the Nations League semi-finals on Thursday. If they emerge victorious in that contest, then a final showdown with major continental silverware up for grabs will be lined up against either Mexico or Panama.
