It feels like the perfect night to dress up for a Taylor Swift concert.
Some fans spend months bejeweling bodysuits similar to the ones she wears during her “Lover” and “Midnights” eras of the concerts. Some draw inspiration from her 11 eras, award show appearances, music videos, interviews and Chiefs game outfits. Thanks to a recent home game appearance, Fazit faux glitter patches are common across the cheeks of fans at stadiums.
Millions of friendship bracelets have been exchanged, from the homemade variety to upscale Little Words Project buys. There are the fan supporters — the dads and boyfriends — who sport shirts like “It’s me, hi! I’m the dad. It’s me.” or, “Spending a lot of money right now.”
And then there are the niche fans who have come up with truly unique ideas that stand out among the sea of Swifties. Here are 13 of the most creative ideas that only diehard Swifties will understand.
1) Red scarf
Loving this costume was red. In Swift’s song “All Too Well,” she sings about a scarf she left at her ex’s sister’s house. Social media influencer Victoria Garrick Browne shared a video of her boyfriend Max wearing a maroon hat with fringe hanging from the brim. A red blanket is draped around him as he stands outside SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.
2) Crumpled up piece of paper
Fans live to belt out the diaristic lyrics of “All Too Well” as Swift strums the 10-minute song on guitar. A fan captured by GMA News in the Phillippines attended one of the Sydney, Australia, shows as the crumpled up piece of paper Swift sings about. On the outfit were the lyrics to the Track 5 song from “Red (Taylor’s Version).”
3) Vending machine light
It’s a “Cruel Summer” year-round when you wear a vending machine costume to the Eras Tour. Swift sings, “hang your head low in the glow of the vending machine,” in the second verse of the “Lover” track. Jason Wilks captioned a photo with a credit to his friend for painting lyrics on his ensemble. The creative piece even caught the eye of Taylor Nation, the singer’s in-house marketing and public relations company, which shared one of his photos.
4) ‘Lover’ dancer
Erin Hinson posted a photo of her son, Henry, dressed up as his favorite dancer Kameron Saunders. His costume included a cardboard cutout of Swift in her first signature pose of the Eras Tour. There was also a parachute flap attached to his wheelchair that operated like the ones the dancers wear. Hinson wrote, “Since seeing the #erastour movie for the first time Henry said he was going to dress up as @kamnsaunders for Halloween. I hope we did Kam and Taylor Swift proud!” Saunders commented on one of the videos, “THANK YOU!!!! The costume is sooooooooo brilliantly constructed with so much thought and detail. It’s a very generous gesture and I am HONORED! THANK YOU!”
5) Olive Garden employee
In July, @thetorturedpoets on Instagram shared a screenshot of a fan dressed as an Olive Garden employee holding a sign reading, “Where is Este?” The clever costume is in reference to Swift’s “Evermore” song “No Body, No Crime” in which the main character Este goes missing and is presumed to have been killed by her cheating husband or his mistress. Este normally meets her friend at Olive Garden every Tuesday night for a glass of wine. The breadstick restaurant chain loved this post so much it commented, “From ‘I think he did it’ to ‘he did THAT.'”
6) Donna Kelce
Swift’s whirlwind romance with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce has brought a new onslaught of outfits into the Swiftie fold. Concertgoers see a lot of 87 jerseys, but it’s as common to see the Kelce matriarch, Donna. Michelle Jankovich wore a combined Eagles-Chiefs jersey to represent the football teams of both her sons. She donned a blond wig, a pair of glasses and a “New Heights” podcast cap. “I’ve watched the Eras Tour on a grainy livestream 100+ times this year with the hopes that one day I would experience it for myself,” she said in a photo of her at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami. “And it happened!! Thank you to everyone who has supported my journey to my own Eras tour era and celebrated with me last night.”
7) Willow tree
Francisco Bocanegra bent right to Swift’s breeze. The Swiftie attended the very first night of the Eras Tour in Glendale, Arizona. His “Willow” tree outfit included a bark tunic and leaf-filled crown. Willow branches swayed side-to-side as he walked and danced. Swift gave him a shoutout during the concert, “I’ve seen someone dressed as a whole entire willow tree.” The outfit is a nod to her track “Willow” off “Evermore.”
8) Vigilante chair
Dom Cielak has attended several Eras Tour shows and always dresses for revenge. When the TikToker flew to Japan, he went as a “Midnights” prop. The crafty Swiftie shows how he constructed his outfit, building it from supplies and transporting it halfway across the globe to the Tokyo Dome. In case anyone was confused by the outfit, he carried a photo of Swift with her chair and a sign that said, “Taylor sit on me.”
9) Getaway car
Duncan Kirkland drove the getaway car into Accord Stadium in Sydney, Australia. Security let him steer his PVC pipe creation into the arena. Unfortunately, due to rain, the car was impounded halfway through the show — he threw it away. Fans loved him pulling up in the “Reputation”-themed outfit.
10) IDK stoplight
In “Death By a Thousand Cuts,” Swift sings about the sinking feeling of breaking up. In the haunting lyrics, she asks the “traffic lights if it’ll be all right, they say, ‘I don’t know.'” In a line outside the Ventura Brightline station, one fan dressed as a red, yellow and green stoplight with the letters “IDK.”
11) Taylor + Travis
TikTok influencer @v_swiftie_ really committed to going as both Swift and Kelce. Split down the middle, he sewed a football jersey and white pants onto a recreation of Swift’s first “Reputation” catsuit. He topped it off with a wig and Chiefs cap combo. He even shaved half his face. On a follow-up clip, he captioned the video, “When it’s the couple costume of the season, but you are single, you improvise.”
12) Reputation clown
In the fandom, there is a phenomenon known as “clowning,” which is when fans think Swift will make a surprise announcement. And fans have been salivating for the singer to release the rerecorded version of her sixth album, “Reputation (Taylor’s Version).” They “clown” every single concert thinking she will display the new album on the back screen of the stage. In London, one fan dressed up as a “Reputation” clown. Many thought the singer would make the announcement during the surprise set of the Aug. 20 show.
13) Mirrorball
Lucas may be the most famous dog in the Swiftie fandom. The 14-year-old dachshund is the star of hundreds of social media videos in which his owners, twin sisters Ana and Carmen Almudi, dress him in outfits and have him act out scenes to the lyrics of Swift’s songs. He was able to go with Ana and Carmen to Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, in May 2023. “We created this account many years ago to bring Lucas light into other people’s lives!” one of the Almudi sisters wrote on Instagram. “Lucas was wearing ear protection and a custom made mirrorball costume to be comfortable.” He made the whole place shimmer.
