The Honduran Armed Forces (FF. AA.) have never wanted to nor been able to eradicate drug trafficking within the military institution, American-born journalist Jeff Erns said on social media on Wednesday.
Through social network X, the communicator and drug trafficking researcher said that “The Armed Forces have never been able/even wanted to eradicate drug trafficking within their own institution.”
These statements were made in reaction to the statements of the head of the Armed Forces, Roosevelt Hernández, who, in order to downplay the elimination of the extradition treaty with the United States, assured that in Honduras there is “capacity” to combat drug trafficking.
It should be remembered that Xiomara Castro’s government has been strongly questioned for the elimination of the extradition treaty, a decision that was taken after the ‘narco-scandal’ that involved the former secretary of the National Congress, Carlos Zelaya.
It should be noted that the video along with the report were released by Insight Crime in collaboration with journalist Jeff Erns.
