The fines imposed by the IHTT range from 2,000 to 11,000 lempiras, plus confiscation of the vehicle, Rojas said.
In the framework of the Morazan Week holiday, the Honduran Institute of Land Transportation (IHTT) reported this Wednesday the sanction of some 400 transport units.
The IHTT authorities highlighted that one of the most repetitive sanctions has been that of excess passengers on intercity transport, among other offences against the Traffic Law.
Leonel Rojas, general inspector of the IHTT, explained that some sanctioned drivers are operating without the necessary documentation and that several units did not show up for the mandatory physical-mechanical inspection before the holiday.
The fines imposed so far exceed 850 thousand lempiras nationwide, and it is expected that the operations on the roads will continue throughout the week, he said.
The official called on all drivers who will be visiting different destinations in the country during this week to “carry their documents in order and comply with the Traffic Law,” emphasizing that sanctions will be applied to those who do not do so.
The fines imposed by the IHTT range from 2,000 to 11,000 lempiras, plus confiscation of the vehicle and the driver’s license, Rojas said.
