Recently, Volodymyr Zelensky said that his “victory plan” included Ukraine’s “unconditional” membership in NATO, as well as specific arms deliveries.
The Ukrainian leader revealed part of his plan during a speech in parliament. In addition, he hopes that allied nations will respond positively to his demands.
“If we start moving forward on this victory plan now, it may be possible to end the war no later than next year ,” he told lawmakers.
After presenting his project to several Western leaders, the Ukrainian president shared some details with the public.
“Regardless of what [Russian President Vladimir] Putin wants, we all need to change the circumstances so that Russia is forced into peace ,” he stressed.
A few weeks ago, the Ukrainian president sharply criticized the slow pace of Western arms deliveries in recent months, as Russian forces continue to advance on Ukraine’s eastern front.
On the Russian side, the Kremlin rejected the plan, saying it offered only temporary peace.
“The only possible peace plan is for the Kiev regime to realize the futility of the policy it is pursuing and understand the need for restraint,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
