As people visit the grave of a loved one on or around All Saints Day, thieves are breaking into cars. Police warns for this worldwide known phenomenon.
“It’s an annual recurring problem. Cemeteries are usually quite remote. On All Saints’ Day and in the days before, it is very crowded and people sometimes have to park their cars a long way away. Out of sight. Thieves take advantage of that to make their move,” police say.
“While visiting the grave of a deceased loved one, don’t forget that thieves can target what is left in your car, whether visible or not,” also warns the Bruges police, who, among other things, advises you to take your GPS and GPS holder, when not built-in, out of the car and wipe away the suction cup print. “Also, always turn off the bluetooth and Wi-Fi function of your GPS, laptop or cell phone in the car. This is because thieves look for such signals and break open the car to steal them.”
Also be sure not to leave coats, handbags or other items on the couch. “Because even though some items may have little value, thieves don’t know that and often still find it worth breaking a window to take them.”
