The 26-year-old television executive went missing one day while helping Kannada actress Maria Susairaj. Days, months, and years passed, but there was no sign of Neeraj ever resurfacing.

The 26-year-old television executive went missing one day while helping Kannada actress Maria Susairaj. Days, months, and years passed, but there was no sign of Neeraj ever resurfacing.

Maria Susairaj, a small-time South Indian actress, and her boyfriend were planning to get engaged, but Maria was struggling in her career. Neeraj had helped her secure a few assignments in the television industry. Maria told her boyfriend that Neeraj had a crush on her, but she didn’t share any feelings for him.

On May 6, 2008, Neeraj went to meet Maria but was not seen again. Neeraj’s parents searched for him and later filed a missing complaint with the police, alleging Maria’s suspicious involvement in his disappearance.

When police grilled Maria, she tried to mislead police, saying that Neeraj had visited her place but left at midnight for a party in Andheri. When police put pressure on her, she confessed to the crime and stated that her boyfriend killed him in her presence.

Maria told the police that Neeraj was helping her move into her apartment, and on May 7, when he arrived, her boyfriend Jerome called her. Jerome became angry and insisted that Neeraj should leave immediately. Maria assured him that Neeraj would leave after dinner.

On May 8, Maria’s boyfriend reached her residence and pushed past her and entered the room where Neeraj was lying on the bed. Jerome started attacking Neeraj with a knife and he stabbed him multiple times.

Later, Maria and her boyfriend went to the shopping mall and bought polybags and sharp knives. They cut Neeraj’s body into 300 pieces. They went with the chopped body to an isolated place and set the body on fire.

Maria Susiaraj was not guilty of murder but convicted for three years for destroying the evidence. She later came out of jail. Her boyfriend Jerome was imprisoned for 10 years and an additional 3 years for destroying evidence.
