A violent armed confrontation that took place on Friday morning in the Buenos Aires neighborhood resulted in the death of three individuals in the Dulce Nombre de Culmí municipality, in the Olancho department, in eastern Honduras.
The citizens who lost their lives were identified as Marcial Nieto, Osman Bonilla and Ramón Moncada, the latter of whom died in a hospital.
Initial reports indicate that the victims had been drinking alcohol at an establishment since the previous night. At 6:30 a.m. they were surprised by attackers who arrived in a vehicle.
During the exchange of gunfire, two people died on the spot.
This incident has been classified as a confrontation, as the victims apparently attempted to repel the attack.
Agents from the Police Investigation Department (DPI) found a firearm in the possession of one of the victims, suggesting an attempt at self-defense.
The National Police cordoned off the area and has launched an exhaustive investigation to clarify the circumstances of the confrontation and determine whether it is linked to the struggle for control of drug trafficking in the region.

Violence in Honduras left more than 104,000 people dead between January 2000 and September 2024, the National Human Rights Commissioner (Conadeh) reported on Tuesday.
Between 2021 and September 2024, there have been nearly 13,000 violent deaths , a situation that has been aggravated by constant massacres, according to Conadeh.
