Tens of thousands of jobs in the automotive industry will be lost in Germany. The manufacturer Volkswagen has decided to close three factories in its country.
After a works council, the Volkswagen group has decided to close 3 Volkswagen brand factories in Germany. The manufacturer has not yet communicated the names of the factories concerned out of the 10 it has on German territory, some of which also produce models of other brands of the group. The 7 German factories preserved will also be affected by layoffs. Some departments will be closed or relocated. Tens of thousands of jobs are therefore threatened, with the first departures as early as mid-2025. The Volkswagen group employs 120,000 people in Germany. As a reminder, the Audi factory in Belgium is also doomed to closure.
