Tory Lanez has filed an ethics complaint against his former lawyer Shawn Holley, accusing her of not having his best interests at heart when she represented him in the Megan Thee Stallion shooting case.

The rapper, who is currently serving a 10-year prison sentence over the July 2020 incident, filed the complaint to the State Bar of California over claims that Holley had ties to Roc Nation, the JAY-Z-founded company that manages Megan.

Tory points to the Hulu show Reasonable Doubt as evidence for a conflict of interest. The series is loosely based on Holley’s life and she serves as a producer on the show.

Megan and Beyoncé‘s “Savage (Remix)” was also featured in an episode of the show, as was a track from the lawyer’s daughter who has also worked for Bey as a backing singer.

Lanez further claims in the complaint that Roc Nation CEO Desiree Perez assisted Megan when she gave statements to the police over the shooting.

He makes a number of other claims about Holley’s conduct during the case, accusing her of neglecting his defense and telling a DNA expert not to run tests on the gun used in the shooting after he said he did not touch it.

The rapper believes that Holley was acting under the orders of Roc Nation and that they wanted him to take a plea deal. After he refused, the attorney withdrew from his defense team after claims from a witness that she had committed bribery — which Tory believes was a ruse so she could get off the case.

The Canadian wants Holley disciplined for her alleged ethics breaches and for the hundreds of thousands of dollars he paid her to be returned.

Holley quit working for Lanez just five days before he was found guilty of shooting Megan Thee Stallion, by which point she had been paid up to $300,000.

In response to Lanez’s complaints, Holley denied the accusations in a statement to TMZ: “Mr. Peterson brought these meritless claims to the State Bar over a year ago and they were summarily rejected and the matter was promptly closed. His actions to publicize this failed effort are likely tied to the appeal of his criminal conviction, for which I wish him well.

Holley also denied any ties to Roc Nation, saying: “I have never had business ties to Roc Nation and Roc Nation has nothing to do with the television show Reasonable Doubt, which I co-produce.”

Lanez’s current legal team, Unite the People, deny that any previous filing regarding Holley was submitted to the bar.
