Volodymyr Zelenskyy assured that Ukraine will join the European Union earlier than expected.
The Ukrainian President stressed the need to persevere in achieving this goal.
When talks on Ukraine’s EU accession began, several leaders of member states warned that it would take Ukraine six to eight years to complete all the necessary steps.
“We will complete all these steps, I am convinced, and we will join the EU faster than expected. If we continue to move forward, to run, to be persistent,” he said.
He noted that Ukraine has already adopted laws aligned with European policies, but he believes that some countries have hardly noticed this, largely because of the current geopolitical situation.
In June, Ukraine officially began talks to join the European Union, a move supported by the majority of member states. However, the country still needs to put in place additional legislation to meet European criteria.
