It’s a possibility. Ukraine, according to a podcast shared on X (formerly Twitter) by The Times, could use its own nuclear weapon if US military and financial aid disappeared.
The British newspaper has released a podcast entitled “The World”, based on analyses relating to “global security”. The Times states in this podcast that if US aid were to end, due to Donald Trump’s victory, Ukraine could develop a nuclear weapon, similar to the “Fat Man” bomb that violently struck the city of Nagasaki (Japan) during the Second World War, in August 1945.
In response to the podcast, Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry spokesman set the record straight: “Ukraine is committed to the NPT [Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons]. We do not possess, develop or intend to acquire nuclear weapons. Ukraine works closely with the IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency) and is totally transparent in its controls, which exclude the use of nuclear materials for military purposes”, he assured.
