Vagrant jailed for boasting he makes a lot of money begging

homeless man was arrested after boasting on social media about the high income he earned by begging on the streets of Barra da Tijuca, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The man, identified as Luiz Jeferson Muniz da Silva , 30, revealed in a viral video that he earned between 1,000 and 4,000 reais a day (between 4,000 and 17,000 lempiras) without having to work or pay for food or rent.

In the footage, recorded by local residents, he explained how he managed to lead a quiet life without any major worries, while taking advantage of the generosity of passers-by.

” I don’t pay rent, I don’t pay for food, not even marijuana ,” he declared proudly, which generated great controversy on social media.

Rio de Janeiro security police arrested the homeless man on the beach on October 14 after identifying him from his posts.

Upon reviewing his background, officers discovered that he had an outstanding warrant for illegal possession of weapons. Although nothing illegal was found on him at the time of his arrest, he was detained to comply with the warrant.
