In the last few hours, a video of the Independent Democratic Union deputy Álvaro Carter has been circulating, in which he was part of the citizen arrest of a criminal, becoming a trend and generating all kinds of comments among Internet users.
The incident occurred in the La Florida commune on Thursday afternoon, when the parliamentarian witnessed the moment in which the criminal escaped after having assaulted a resident of the area.

The deputy, seeing the dangerous situation, got out of the car he was driving and caught up with the assailant, managing to hold him back until people nearby arrived at the scene and began to lynch the man. In response, Carter proceeded to calm things down and prevent things from escalating.
Likewise, after alerting the authorities, Carabineros officers arrived at the scene, taking the detainee to a police station and he was placed at the disposal of the Prosecutor’s Office. The capture of the subject was recorded on video, which was later shared by Rodolfo Carter (Álvaro Carter’s brother) on his X account.
Later, through social media, the parliamentarian referred to the issue and warned that ” violence affects our country .” Today, I helped in a citizen’s arrest after seeing a victim suffering. I thank the Carabineros for their quick action,” he commented.
Who is Alvaro Carter?
Born on October 9, 1980 ( age 44 ), in Santiago, Chile. He is the son of Jorge Carter Caneo and Gloria Fernández Cruz. And brother of the current Mayor of the commune of La Florida, Rodolfo Carter Fernández.
In the 2017 parliamentary elections, he stood as a candidate for Deputy for District No. 12 (La Florida, La Pintana, Pirque, Puente Alto and San José de Maipo), Metropolitan Region, as an independent for the Independent Democratic Union and as part of the Chile Vamos pact. He was elected with 27,491 votes, corresponding to 7.88% of the total valid votes cast.
On March 11, 2018, he assumed office as Deputy for the 12th District, corresponding to the municipalities of La Florida, La Pintana, Pirque, Puente Alto and San José de Maipo, Metropolitan Region, as an independent in a quota of the Independent Democratic Union Party and as part of the Chile Vamos pact.
