A man who was walking with a child in his arms fell into one of the sinkholes found in the Gertrudis Sánchez neighborhood, Gustavo A. Madero municipality, Mexico City , and the moment was recorded on video.
The incident, which caused alarm among residents, occurred in an area where two large holes have remained a few metres apart for six months, unrepaired.
According to the images , the man, whose identity is unknown, managed to get back to his feet after the fall. So far, it has not been reported whether he or the minor suffered serious injuries.
Residents of the colony have repeatedly complained about the lack of attention from the authorities. Despite multiple warnings and reports from neighbours, the sinkholes have not been repaired.
Resident Reports
According to residents, the Mexico City government has argued that, since these are not primary roads, the Ministry of Public Works and Services (Sobse) is not responsible for their maintenance.
However, given the obvious danger, residents decided to close the street to avoid further accidents and demand an immediate response from the capital authorities.
