The minor had been missing since September 29 when, according to relatives, Sofia left her paternal grandmother’s house to go to her home, where she was going to pick up some shampoo to bathe her pets.
” I realized that the girl was taking a while and the house she was going to was close, that’s why she had left alone (…) On other occasions when she had made the same trip, it took her five minutes to return ,” said Aunt Katherine Delgado to El Tiempo.
A security camera captured on video the moment when Sofia was walking down a street; however, the images are very brief, since the camera’s plane is obstructed by the leaves of some trees.
The clip lasts 45 seconds and shows Sofia walking on the sidewalk; the minor was wearing white shorts and a purple blouse. Her mother, who was watching the recording, says: ” That’s her, that’s my girl .”
According to Delgado’s relatives, the young woman was last seen at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 29. Lady Zúñiga, her mother, asked the authorities to find her immediately: ” I don’t know anything about my girl, I want them to tell me something more concrete, what is happening and who took her .”
The discovery of the girl’s body was confirmed on Thursday, October 17, days after authorities launched search efforts, established a multimillion-dollar reward and even issued an Interpol yellow notice to search for her in 196 countries.
However, according to the information circulating, Sofía never left the municipality and the alleged perpetrators of her disappearance and subsequent murder were neighbors of the Delgado Zúñiga family.
According to the Attorney General’s Office consulted by El Tiempo, the young woman’s attackers are: Bryan Campo and Evelyn Julieth Rodas Patiño . The Secretary of Government and Coexistence of Candelaria, Heverto Rivero Rincón, reported that the subject accepted responsibility.
” The man confessed that he had committed the crime and what he had done with the girl ,” the official said.
The body of the lifeless girl was found in the district of La Regina (Candelaria) in the middle of a sugar cane field.

A video has been circulating on social media in which a girl is kidnapped by a man, implying that it is Sofía Delgado; however, this is false.
And even though the clip has been shared 75 times and has more than 31 thousand views, it is not real, since it actually happened in April of last year.
