This weekend, the death of Georgina Johana Mendoza Montiel, a pregnant 19-year-old woman, was confirmed. She suffered a tragic accident on September 12 when she fell from a moving bus in Barranquilla, Colombia.
The fall was recorded on video by a citizen and shared on social media, showing the moment when Georgina was left lying on the ground, while several passersby tried to help her.
Georgina was taken to the Camino Adela de Char hospital, where she remained in the intensive care unit for 20 days. However, 48 hours after the accident, doctors realised that the baby she was expecting had died several days earlier.
In light of the situation, she had an emergency Caesarean section. The young woman remained under a cautious prognosis for the last three weeks until she died this weekend.
The death of Georgina and her baby has shocked the Barranquilla community, which stands in solidarity with the family while investigations continue to clarify what happened and punish those responsible.
