Climate change expert César Quintanilla warned this Friday about the formation of a tropical depression that could develop at the end of this weekend or early next week and could affect Honduras and Nicaragua.
“As I have been telling you, there is a high probability that a tropical depression will form near Honduras and Nicaragua in the next few days and just a few minutes ago the National Hurricane Center raised that possibility to 80%,” Quintanilla reported through his social networks.
The warning was backed by the National Hurricane Center, underscoring the importance of both countries maintaining vigilance.
“Be aware of early warnings and I will keep you informed of the evolution and development of this disturbance,” the expert said.
For its part, the Permanent Contingency Commission (Copeco) announced that the convergence of wind and humidity from the northeast of the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific Ocean is expected to generate rain and showers, accompanied by electrical activity in almost the entire territory, with greater intensity in the southern zone.
In this regard, residents of the southern region must prepare themselves and follow the authorities’ recommendations to prevent any incidents resulting from the heavy rains that could impact that area of the country.
