Russian President Vladimir Putin said that “all the goals set will be achieved” in Ukraine, which is in the midst of armed conflict, on the second anniversary of Russia’s annexation of four Ukrainian regions.
“The truth is on our side. All the goals set will be achieved,” he said in a video congratulating the Russian people on the occasion of “Reunification Day”, celebrated in Russia on September 30.
Two years ago, Vladimir Putin signed and formalized the annexation of the Ukrainian regions of Donetsk and Lugansk in the east and Zaporizhzhia and Kherson in the south. These regions, which Moscow only partially controls, voted to join Russia in referendums that neither kyiv nor the international community recognizes.
