He completed his higher education in law at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile (PUC) and obtained a master’s degree in law and economics at the Ortega y Gasset Institute of the Complutense University of Madrid. He also studied at the Andrés Bello Diplomatic Academy.
Between 2018 and 2022, Valdivia served as Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs under the second government of Sebastián Piñera. She was also Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs between February and March 2022.
