The book “Con permisito, dijo Monchito” was written by Esteban Valdés, Don Ramón’s son, to tell the world the story behind the comedy character who, for decades, captivated millions of Internet users and who, today, after his departure, continues to do the same.
‘Don Ramón didn’t have money to pay the rent!’
The author of the book “Con permisito, dijo Monchito” allows the world to learn about the real life of the actor who made a large part of Latin Americans laugh in the 1970s . The book was published in 2021 and recently re-released.
During an interview with La Nación, Esteban Valdés said that “At first, my father, Don Ramón, was an ordinary human being who went out on the street and nobody knew him. Sometimes he didn’t have enough to pay the rent in real life and it wasn’t enough to support his children. He had to work as a driver, painter and carpenter ; so, all the jobs that Don Ramón did in El Chavo del 8 he had experienced firsthand and he worked at that to earn his daily bread.”
The writer said that Don Ramón , along with his wife and three children, had to go through various difficulties to earn a living. He emphasized that his work has many emotional and spiritual aspects, as well as life lessons and values.
The rise to fame
Despite not cracking jokes all day long, Don Ramón was a very loving and affectionate person with his children, according to his son. Although he sometimes showed anger, he always showed his love for them.
