Cathy Barriga and her husband  Joaquín Lavín Jr. , a member of parliament for the UDI, bought a lot in Peñaflor, located on Rosales Avenue , for $146 million pesos ($149,320 USD) .

The mansion has one floor and reaches 300 square meters, on a plot of 2,000 square meters. It has three bedrooms, in addition to the main one, which reaches 35 m². In addition, it has a stone bar and a fully furnished kitchen, and its patio includes a large swimming pool and terrace .

This residence is located just 5 minutes from the Autopista del Sol. The couple moved into this residence on July 11, 2012 , as they announced in an interview they did on the program ‘Mentiras Verdaderas’ .

Her beginnings in politics were alongside her husband Joaquín Lavín León (son of the former mayor of Las Condes, Joaquín Lavín) . Years later, the psychology graduate from the Universidad Santo Tomás managed to get  around 35% of the votes in one of the most populous communes in the country . Barriga’s administration in Maipú was full of criticism, which mainly pointed to the lack of seriousness of the then mayor.

The former mayor remains under house arrest after the court rejected her defense’s request for a less severe precautionary measure in the context of the investigation led by the Prosecutor’s Office for tax fraud crimes.
