The tragic death of Edward Demetri Gordon , a young striker for Olimpia , continues to shock Honduran football, as new details come to light about the accident that cost him his life.
Recent reports indicate that the vehicle Gordon was driving early Sunday morning was not his property, but belonged to a close relative.
The accident occurred on the CA-13 highway, in front of the Alameda Residential Complex in La Ceiba, when the CR-V vehicle that Gordon was driving collided with a truck, causing his death on the spot.
According to statements by Jaime Suazo, a relative of the player, the car belonged to the nephew of one of his relatives, who had lent it to Gordon that night.
“The three players came, each of them went home and Demetri went to spend time with his family and asked my nephew to lend him the vehicle,” Suazo explained to local media.
