WHAT HAPPENED?

Pulisic, who fills the role of ‘Captain America’ at international level, has been released from the latest United States squad and will not figure in a friendly date with Mexico. He is being allowed to return to Europe ahead of a resumption in domestic duty.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

New USMNT boss Mauricio Pochettino has stated that Pulisic arrived in his camp “a little bit tired”, leading to concerns over a lack of protection – with the 26-year-old starting all seven Serie A games for Milan this season, as well as two Champions League fixtures.

    DID YOU KNOW?

While those in the U.S. would like to see Pulisic rested occasionally, Calciomercato reports that the Rossoneri have no intention of rotating a talismanic presence out of their starting XI. The former Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund winger has become an integral part of the set-up at San Siro and is viewed as a “technical leader”.

    WHAT NEXT?

Pulisic has added another six goals to his tally this season – on the back of posting a personal best return of 15 last term – and continues to register career firsts in Italy. With that in mind, it is claimed that Milan will “manage minutes within the match itself” when it comes to their No.11 – with results dictating when he is given the breaks that Pochettino is calling for.
