Many Hondurans are wondering if classes are really suspended , here we tell you. Honduras celebrated its national holidays on September 15, commemorating 203 years of independence and Teachers’ Day. The Ministry of Education announced last Friday the official days off for these important dates.
Within this framework, the educational sector community will be granted time off on Monday, September 16 and Tuesday, September 17, allowing for a pause in school activities, resuming work on Wednesday, September 18.
These days of rest correspond to the celebrations for independence and recognition of Honduran teachers.
The Federation of Teachers’ Organizations of Honduras (FOMH) expressed its position on the days off. ” Monday is our day off, since teachers nationwide have worked intensively with our students for September 15, and Tuesday is to celebrate Teachers’ Day as it should be ,” said Gilberto Benítez, deputy director of the Castro López basic education center.
