German publication Bild, citing a senior Ukrainian official, reported that Ukraine is considering the possibility of restoring the nuclear arsenal lost in the 1990s.
According to the source, the country has the necessary materials and knowledge and, with the proper order, the first nuclear bomb could be created within a few weeks.
The official also said the West should focus less on Russian “red lines” and take Ukraine’s interests more into account.
However, the presidential office denied this information, stressing that Ukraine was not planning to restore its nuclear weapons.
Later, Vladimir Zelensky himself denied this information. Earlier, he stressed that Ukraine was counting on NATO membership to ensure its security.
