WHAT HAPPENED?
Amorim is in his final week at Sporting CP after United announced his arrival at Old Trafford on Friday. The manager will formally leave the Lions on November 11 and head to the Premier League. Ahead of completing his move to England, the 39-year-old coach was asked if he could consider raiding his old club in the January transfer window and try to sign star striker Gyokeres.

WHAT RUBEN AMORIM SAID

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Gyokeres who scored four goals in the club’s thumping 5-1 win over Estrela Amadora in a Liga Portugal clash on Friday, remained tight-lipped on his future with the Portuguese champions. The player, however, wished his manager luck ahead of his move to United.
Speaking to reporters, the striker said, “It wasn’t a normal situation [this week], but we showed that we handled it well and won 5-1. It was a good reaction from us, we have to remain professional and do things the right way. It’s sad that he’s leaving, he was excellent for us, we had a wonderful year. We have to adapt, but it’s difficult to talk about the future because we don’t know what will happen, but I’m sure we’ll do the same job. If we can do it, we’ll continue as we have been doing. We wish him all the best, it’s very good for him.”
He added, “I don’t know, I’m here. As you can see, I really enjoy playing here and I’m not thinking about anything else, I’m enjoying being here.”
